Supervisory Social Worker-Medical Foster Home Program
Supervises employees in the Home Based Primary Care Program; as the supervisor, assists in planning, establishing, and implementing policies and procedures; developing individual or group goals and objectives as well as monitoring, operating, evaluating, coordinating and overseeing the assigned program and the Social Work staff of the assigned program. Provides direct clinical services to Veterans in the Medical Foster Home Program and the Community Adult Day Program Observes workers' performance; demonstrates and conducts work performance critiques. Provides informal feedback and periodically evaluates employee performance. Completes a biopsychosocial assessment for Veterans treated and provides interventions on the basis of this assessment. Will assure the Social Workers whom they supervise are aware of and adhere to all current directives of VHA, and meet current JCAHO standards, State licensure standards, and VA-OIG expectations. Uses advanced and expert skill in a range of specialized interventions and treatment modalities used in specialty treatment programs or with special patient populations. This includes individual, group, and/or family counseling and advanced level psychosocial and/or case management interventions used in the treatment or Veterans with complex physical and/or mental illness. Provides subject matter consultation to colleagues and students on the psychosocial treatment of patients treated in the specialty area, rendering professional opinions based on experience and expertise and role modeling effective Social Work practice skills. Teaches and mentors staff and students in the specialty area of practice and provides supervision for licensee or for specialty certifications. Performs work related to the review, monitoring, analysis, planning and assessment of various programs to include the Medical Foster Home and Community Adult Day Programs. Their experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgment. -Education:
They may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience -Licensure. Individuals assigned as Supervisory Social Workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level and must be able to provide supervision for subordinate staff to qualify for licensure. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate all the professional KSAs in subparagraph below. Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1.Ability to independently organize work, set priorities, and meet multiple deadlines. 2.Knowledge of supervisory duties which includes clinical supervision, consultation, negotiation with other departments and quality improvement. 3.Ability to ensure provision of clinical social work services. 4.Ability to provide staff training and development. 5.Skill in interpersonal relationships in dealing with employees, team leaders, and managers. The work is primarily sedentary, but may require some walking, bending, stooping, standing, stretching and carrying objects.
